Saturation
Saturation describes the purity and strength of a colour. Weakly saturated stones look greyish or brownish; strongly saturated stones look luminous and clear. The highest level is called «vivid» in laboratory language. For coloured gemstones, saturation often influences value more than any other attribute – two stones of the same size can differ many times in price on this alone.
