Paraíba
Paraíba denotes tourmalines whose luminous neon to electric blue or green is caused by copper. They are named after the Brazilian state where they were first found; today they also come from Nigeria and Mozambique. Laboratories use the name regardless of origin when colour and copper content fit – the origin is stated separately.
