Cutting style
Cutting style describes how the facets are arranged. In a brilliant cut, triangular and kite-shaped facets radiate outward and create sparkle. A step cut has parallel, rectangular facets and emphasises colour and clarity – typical for emerald. A mixed cut combines both, often with a brilliant crown and a step-cut pavilion. A cabochon is smoothly domed without facets.
