Glossary
Canada
Since the late 1990s Canada has mined diamonds in the Northwest Territories. The Ekati and Diavik mines lie in the tundra far north of the tree line and are partly supplied via ice roads.
Stones
Canada mainly produces colourless diamonds; Diavik is also known for occasional pink stones.
Origin
Canadian diamonds are often sold with mine-of-origin documentation, because a diamond’s origin usually cannot be determined in the laboratory.
